The thesis is mainly about the reasons that cause the language errors in the process of learning Chinese complement of direction about Thai students. The writer first analyses the Chinese language points in learning based on the grammatical structure of complement of direction and the semantic meaning. After that, the writer gives some advice about teaching methods to solve the errors under the conclusion drawn from the survey. In part one, the writer introduces the aim of this thesis, the approach background, the research method and the main contents. In part two, the analysis is given about the differences between Chinese complement of direction and the similar expression in Thai language from two aspects: grammatical structure and semantic meaning. With grammatical structure, the writer mainly discusses the location in complement of direction and the object. With semantic meaning, the research is generally about the direction of verb, the focus of semantic meaning and the correlation of transferred meaning. In part three, the writer divides the materials into two types: errors on grammatical structure and errors on semantic meaning. The first type of errors is mainly on the location of simple complement of direction and object, the location of compound complement of direction. The errors on semantic meaning are divided into five types: the errors on direction, the errors on transferred meaning, the anomie between simple complement of direction and compound complement of direction, the misusage about complement of direction, and the local error on complement of direction. About the reasons causing the errors, the writer gives four types: language transfer, study methods, teaching material and Chinese language points. The teaching methods to the errors are also given in the last part.
