Spielberg Art Theory

Steven Spielberg is a master of not only American, but world film history. He dominated 1990s' motion-picture screen. As a film artist, relying on his wisdom, he is a man full of film wisdom and he directs today's Hollywood with Spielberg-style Films. On the other hand, he is a creator of glorious booking office records. Films directed by him have won Oscar Nomination or Oscar Award for several times. Spielberg has become a synonym of both commerce and artistic perfection.In this thesis, the author tries to explore how Spielberg constructs his artist world from human beings' feeling and aesthetic mentality and how he builds his artistic mansion by film language which is familiar to all human beings. The author thinks that Spielberg's eternal theme is that human beings are the most essential and exploring topic which is connected with all human beings. Spielberg is good at grasping human's nature and using it as the basic topic through condensing, widening, distillating and raising it into a higher level, then decorates it with a unique and cultural expressional methods. His marvelous language makes his mastery film style. Through picture-story style tableaus, huge monsters made by close shot, assaultive and narrative rhythm, various thrilling and sumptuous and magnificent spectacles caused by montage style, Spielberg makes his audience lost in his external magnificence.
