Study Of Contemporary Fiber Art Status

Fiber art has stepped on a new stage in China, since the exhibition was successful held in 2000, which is named 'From Lausanne to Beijing-2000 International Tapestry Art Exhibition', however, there exists the absence of summary research in theory. The introduction and analysis of Chinese contemporary fiber art, is one part of basic study in fiber art theory as well as a kind of effort, which is made to open up the research eyeshot for the whole strategy --developing the fiber art in China. On visiting some contemporary representative fiber artists, combining the visit information and the theory in existence, particular, thorough and impersonal knowledge about the status of Chinese contemporary fiber art was got. This paper presents the property and the indication of the word 'fiber art', and explores the appearance and the growth of fiber art in China. With elementary analysis of Chinese contemporary fiber art, its prospect is attempted to reveal.
