Our country's traditional benevolence is to chase the harmony among human being, society and nature; benevolence supplies abundant disposable morality and culture sources to the construction of modernization. Ethos, especially the benevolence, helps to overcome some difficulties in social life and clear up the crisises in the course of modernization. This thesis has four sections and elaborates the cultivation of benevolence.The first section expatiate the special position of benevolence in Chinese ethos on the basis of explaining the basic conception, development and evolvement of benevolence. The core of Confucianism is benevolence and the main intension of benevolence is love, and moreover, to create a society which is full of love is the forever ideal of Chinese people.The second section comments on the effective education and cultivation methods such as example-setting, self-benevolence, introspection, self-discipline and endeavor in detail, tries to find its realistic meanings for the cultivation of benevolence.The third section narrates western deep insights on the importance of the cultivation of benevolence and the important revelations that the western care moral education model and consideration moral education model impart to our cultivation of benevolence.The forth section analyzes the special meaning of spreading and cultivating benevolence in our country, points out that benevolence lends itself to harmonizing the relationship between human being and nature, does good to the healthy and effective development of our enterprises, especially is the foundation and guarantee of creating a harmonious society. Then it mainly deals with the effective ways and methods of cultivating benevolence in our country, putting forth that we should obtain the general spreading principle of benevolence of Confucianism, breach the viewpoint of discrimination, advocate humanity, enforce the individuality, make use of media and the institution to create the social environments which is in favor of cultivating benevolence, try to inject benevolence to school education.
