The army's profitable management was flourishing , which was a typical and serious phenomenon in the Northern Song Dynasty .The army engaging profitable management didn't happen by chance, it was the joint force of each element in history. Army engaged profitable management in wide region, and there were a great deal of goods that they engaged. So this management made a notable impact to society. In this paper, there are six chapters. In the first chapter, the writer inquires into the reasons that army engaged profitable management. Making up military supplies was the most important reason. In the second chapter, the writer analyzes the source of capital that army used, the common capital was the funds for public use. Furthermore, the government appropriated funds or set aside funds to army. In the third, the writer delimits the goods that army engaged. There were two kinds of goods, one was general goods, the other was goods that the government had a monopoly in. " The fourth chapter describes what the army used, such as the staff, organization and transportation. In the fifth chapter, the writer sums up functions of the army's management. The profit that army earned slowed down the military expenditure in straitened circumstance. At last, the writer summarizes the negative effects of the army's management, these activities had weakened the military strength and the central finance especially blocked the normal development of business.
