Late Qing Dynasty Straight Lu Border Areas Of Grass-roots Social Control

The social control is the process of establishment and maintenance social order with all kinds of ways, forms and methods in the sociological sense. This process is mainly completed by the government, when the government is unable to manage and control the basic unit effectively, the society often get into turbulence. There are many reasons of the declining of the government controlling force, but regardless of any reasons, any revolt events occured in the basic unit society is the result that the government has not been able to realize in society's active control. More than ten years turbulence confronted theoXian-tong chaotic result from this, and the eruption of Yihetuan Movement ocuuered in late 19 century which shock world result from this too. The Zhi-Lu border area is the area among the edge of Shandong and the Chihli province. Analysis of this article to the social control of this region include three parts.The first part is the social turbulence and control in Xian-tong chaotic in Zhi-Lu border area. The Northern Expedition of Taiping army destroyed this local authority system, the expedition northwards and the vacuum of power cause a rapid develepment of mintuan and jiaojun in this area which cause turbulence more than ten years. Except for introducing the turlulent condition in this period,this thesis enlighten the survey and research how all grades of local government resume the power of local control.The second parties the stability of social order in Tongzhi Chaotic and early Guangxu chaotic. the Qing-government resume the control power rapidly in the area after sweep out the west Nian army.It maitain stability in nearly twenty years in Zhi-lu border area due to the effort of the local government.The third part is the Yihetuan and the social control in Zhi-lu border area. Because of the division of fhe sorder, our view to the social control in the area during the course of Yihetuan movement divide into the parts.One is Yihetuan and the social control in the south of Zhiliprovince,theother is Yihetuan and the social control in the northwest of Shandong province. In addtion,we think much of the interadition the two provinces.
