My aim in writing this article has been to present a view of a female artist Li Tsing-ping who has been nearly forgotten by the public. She was born in early of the last century. As an artist, she was one of the pioneers of western painting development in china. As a female artist, she was very famous in 1940s and held many influenced solo exhibitions in Shanghai and Peking etc. In 1950s, she was struck by the politics storm..Magically, thirty years later, Li Tsing-ping showed the same energy and flair in art creation as before. This paper discusses some topics including how is her early art style, how is her late art style and the causes of the changes. Firstly writer reviews the painter's late art works which we can see now and thinks her late art style is abstract expressionism. Secondly the new-realism style in the painter's early creation is summarized on the basis of the historical documents and pictures which writer find recently. From the two parts, we can see not only her early style but the late style were influenced by natural environments of South Pacific. From new-realism to abstract expressionism, she always stands the front of Chinese modern art development. Meanwhile as a female artist, her successes which she made and her straits which she had to face in her art creation were connected with the social environments. The Feminism and the looser social surroundings help her get her art position in the man-dominated Chinese art history, but along with the social attitude changes to female after the Second World War, the public began to question the painter's art activities. They thought independent and successful female activities were mysterious. It is the questioning that led to the painter's hard living in her second half life. In this article, writer applies historic research methods, sociology research methods and image analysis methods. Through this research, writer hopes more and more people could know the female artist Li Tsing-ping and value her excellent art.
