Schumann,Robert was an important Romantic Musician in the first half of 19th Century in Germany. From him, we can see the symbol of the romantic spirit, and his romantic nature cultivated and extended from literature. He left over abundant musical works, this is what we envalue most nowadays. And the most famous ones were his compositon in Art songs. In his songs, piano and rhythm were equally parted, sometimes with piano highlightened. Maybe he was influenced by Bach, the application of piano texture in his artistic songs was particularly characterized. Among the songs, the rich variants, and tender expressions showed his acute and direct insight in romantic poems, both the texture and the solo piano works proclaiming the many distinctive characteristics in later romantic period piano style.During the former research in Schumann's works, researchers always analyzed more from voice than from texture as their beginning. So, in order to discuss profoundly about Schumann's composition and application of piano texture, and even the relationship among his solo piano works, this article will basically put his romantic series Women's Life and Love as an example, try to analyze and discuss the piano texture within it, and attempt a new trial for deeper explanation of Schumann's artistic music.This article begins with the historical cultural background of Romanticism, introduces the historical conversion period in the 19th Century. During the period, many known or unknown musicians, composers wrote varieties of music works including songs, Chorus or marches to enhance revolution. The following is the introduction of the German Romanticism, which initiated in the 19th Century in Germany and developed in Britain and France in the literary area. The romantic turning point from literature to Music was in 1920s, with Weber's Operas and Schubert's Artistic songs as the initial landmark.The culmination of Schumann composition was in 1840, when he got married, only in this year, did he compose almost 140 pieces of songs, including his masterpiece A Women's Life and Love, Poet's Love, etc. All these made the year 1840"Year of Schumann's Songs". Through these songs, he tenderly and decicately described his love to his wife——Clara, Wieck .
