Schumann's song cycle Poet's Love is one of the most outstanding vocal works he had ever written. The piano accompanying part was carefully designed as an inseparable part of the whole work, which helps to set the mood, create the atmosphere, and portray the character of each song. The paper will study the artistic style of Schumann's art song through the analysis of the textures of the accompaniment and the endings of the piano part of the cycle. To master the work, it not only needs the piano player to learn and study his part well, but also needs the cooperation of the pianist and the singer. They need to decide the tempi, dynamics, characters, phrasing, as well as other music markings of the cycle. Because the work consists of several songs, the performers need to find a way to connect each song altogether as a whole, and adjust the moods according to the development each song. Through the discussion of several performing aspects of the work, people would have a better understanding of the work as well as Schumann's music style and his compositional techniques.
