Bel canto came into being in Italy about 17th century. Later for its scientific sound production skills, it was introduced to Germany, Britain and Russia. Based on the vocal theories of bel canto and the characteristics of their national music, people creatively removed the conflicts between their national languages and the science of sound production, thus made diverse languages that were thought of difficult to look for resonance reach the standards of bel canto and set up a set of rules of singing skills which were perfect and suitable to display their local color. The art of Chinese national vocal music possesses an obvious quality of drama and folk music, at the same time, for the particular structure of Chinese language, the pronunciation of our national vocal music displays a typical local color, which makes Chinese national vocal music attractive and brilliant in the world.With the increasing international culture communication, our taste of appreciation has been improved a lot, so the art of our traditional vocal music seems to be inadequate to satisfy us. But to our disappointment there exists a large gap between Chinese national vocal music and the appreciation criterion of western countries, so it is hard for Chinese vocal music to be accepted throughout the world.
