The texts this paper study are the two different versions of"Huge Wave"written by Li Jieren: the old one is the 1937 version and another is the version which was rewritten and republished in 1954. By comparing the descriptions of some typical folk characters in both versions, the paper draws the conclusion that the revolution nature gets obvious enhancement in the later version. In the old version, most folk characters joins in the Movement of Protecting Road but with their own diverse personal interests. But the folk characters in the new version join in the revolutionary wave of Protecting Road Movement mainly because of the profound effect of progressive forces such as the revolutionary political party. In addition, analyzing from the different descriptions of the following aspects: the beginning of the two versions, the change of background, the change of way of describing, different descriptions toward revolutionists, this paper discusses on how the new version enhance the description of ordinary life in a history and revolutionary way. The new version pays highly attention on the topic of how the revolutionary political party leads the revolutionary movement but at last fails, as a result the new version oversights the requirement of intrinsic unity of work's ideology and artistic description, and weakens the work's artistic appeal. All of the above-mentioned disadvantages lead to the result that the new version does not fully achieve the desired writing aim.The paper thinks that the above-mentioned changes are related with writer's situation and pursue of ideology. After the foundation of our state, the main stream of ideology at that time was in accordance with consistent idea which took approving attitude towards Revolution of 1911. At that time, li Jieren was both an eminent writer and vice-mayor of Chengdu taking charge of culture and education. For some reasons li Jieren felt that as a vice-mayor it was hard to beyond what he had achieved, and then he turned to his another role of writer with the aim to seek for approval. By actively drawing close to the main stream of ideology, he got some changes in his artistic ideology, which caused him to seize the theme of progressive forces such as revolutionary political party confirmed by the communist party of china in the new...
