In The Theory Of Ancient Chinese Literary Theory " As Metaphor " Critical Method

To make a comprehensive study of the ancient Chinese literary criticism, the literary critical method of"using metaphor as image"takes an extremely important place. This thesis attempts to make a discussion on this method from these three following parts.The first part concretely discusses the expressive form of this method, which is mainly unfolded from two aspects—either using the objective image as a metaphor or using the jing as a metaphor, and particularly analyzes on the former aspect, which could be more specifically divided into three aspects, either using the natural image, or the social phenomenon, or even the living object as a metaphor.The second part explores the origin of this method from three aspects, which consist in the origin of"using metaphor as image", the cultural characteristics of Chinese characteristics, the"amalgamation"of criticism and creation.The third part is displayed and discussed from two aspects which consist in the way of thinking on"using metaphor as image"and its pertinent characteristics. The former mainly touches upon the internalized way of thinking of"the synthesis of nature and human being", while the latter mainly centers on the analysis of vividness, couscous awareness, wholeness, ambiguity and uncertainty.The conclusive part makes an emphasis on this method's revealing effect on the contemporary literary criticism.
