Jewish cultural motif, into which the historical confrontations, psychological accumulation, thinking patterns and action model are fused , is the structure of quality with constant significance in the development of Jewish culture and history. It reveals the long-formed traditional cultural connotations and the changes of the destiny of a people in the development of history. It continuously corroborates itself and continuously emerges and sublimates in the development of Jewish culture and in the endless history. It reflects the distinct cultural features and depth. Four most typical and significant Jewish cultural motifs are analyzed here: "Father and Son"; "Sacrifice and Redemption"; "Alienation", and "war". Through the analysis of these four cultural motifs in Malamud's short stories, we intend to investigate their functions in the short stories and their impact on the creation of works and further examines the profound influence of history and Bible on literary creation. The employment of cultural motifs, not only enriches the depth of the short stories, but also reinforces the "thickness" of novels, even though the stories are apparently short, their profoundness is still well demonstrated. The use of cultural motifs makes it easy for the reader to gain a complete apprehension of Jewish history and culture. The application and analysis of cultural motifs provides the reader with further understanding of Jewish unswerving belief and the whole people.
