Valence and theta play an important role in explaining the semantics and link tightly with a series of semantics-syntax phenomenon. They are rather active in the linguistic research of many countries. However, experts have different focuses on these two issues. French and German linguists are interested in valence while theta attracts more attention from the British and American linguists. Russian linguists discuss more theta than valence. The Chinese linguists mainly focus on the research of valence, but their valence theory is quite different from that of French and Gennan linguists. Because of the differences on analyzing objects, analyzing angles and standard, analyzing levels and analyzing patterns, linguists rarely make landscape-orientation comparison on valence and theta. Valence and theta seem to have nothing to do with each other. While in the concrete descriptions, the two concepts are usually used alternatively. I'd like to use the theory of government and binging to analyze the relationship between theta and valence to reach the conclusion that valence is developing in the way of theta.
