In the name of daily-life aesthetics, consumption and culture have reached an agreement. As a result, a new type of "city consumption" is booming, which greatly promoted the conception of consumerism. Everything is classified into the scope of "commodities". The principle of so-called "Eyes Economy" requires art and aesthetics to beautify all commodities.To avoid being ignored by today's material-consumption-featured times and get itself into the market from the pure spiritual appreciation, art offers a good package to the consumer goods and inevitably become a part of it. Xin Tiandi is a good example of typical place for city consumption. Its great historical-cultural value and admirable location attacked those investors from Hong Kong, who prefer the "haishang culture", to make it a new land mark of Shanghai. With a consumption-oriented idea as the principle and the aesthetic view as an approach, the architecture of Shikumen seems to have passed hundreds-of-years history to modern times with the conversion from a living place to a new space for consumption. But art not truly descends to the ground, it loafs in the abundant middle class crowd, expends the expense way and the life style which the society canonize are the standard of middle class life model. Therefore the so-called artistic democratization is only rich man's democracy, aesthetics still has some distances from the real life of populace. Certainly, regarding the growth of economy of China is uneven, it is a required measure for government to advocate expense moderately and encourage esthetic daily life in some large-scale cities, and to support the cultural industry for the economic development. But we could not be separated from our existing economical level and the consumption level in any event to pursues daily esthetic and the unending expense blindly.
