Chinese Marine Natural Heritage System And The Temple Hung Oyster Reef Heritage Value

The Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage makes a new way to protect World Cultural and Nature Heritage on the base of a new conception .It agree to the exist of World Cultural and Natural Heritage and its tenet is to make a system which will be availability for even by the modern scientific method .Then, the people can protect the World Cultural and Natural Heritage which have the uppermost values according to the system. With the development of the protection for more than thirty years, the protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage has become a international movement by the leading of the U.N.However, the people did not pay enough attention to the Natural Heritage on ocean by now. There are 31 items on the World Heritage List in China, but none of them is the heritage on ocean. Furthermore, the researching of the heritages on ocean is scarcity in home now. The living oyster reef in Xiao miaohong tidal channel lies in the north coast of Haimen city , the great Nantong city, Jiangsu province, which grows in the macrotidal mud flat. Based on the analysis of satellite images, the area of the reef region is 3.557 km2. In 1960s, some shore-experts found it, but did not paid more attention to it. It is hard time to change this condition .In the paper, by analysis of the status of World Heritage and our country's Natural Heritage on ocean, we found that there is not a integrative system on protecting and managing Natural Heritage on ocean in China, which can not protect the value of the heritages better. According to World Heritage's definition , select -standard and classification, trying to make a integrative classification system for Natural Heritage on ocean in china. Then , make further discussing the value and importance of the oyster reef in Xiao miaohong tidal channel of Natural Heritage on ocean in China. We should make more researching on it and try our best to declare it .Then it would be selected in Chinese Preparatory World Cultural and Natural Heritage List earlier and protected better.
