The source text of the translation project is selected from the book World Heritage and Sustainable Development: New Directions in World Heritage Management, which was edited by Peter Bille Larsen and William Logan. The fourth chapter of the source text is titled “Inclusive Economic Development in the Urban Heritage Context”.The main idea of this chapter is that the inclusive economic development favors the people-oriented economy, making economic growth and social equity compatible by relying on local use of resources and fair competition in a global market.Guided by the functional equivalence theory of Eugne Nida, this paper analyzes the translation difficulties and solutions in the translation process based on the analysis of the text type and linguistic features of the source text.In terms of vocabulary in the text, the methods of conversion of part of speech and contextual translation are adopted. As to some long and difficult sentences in the text, the translator adopts the methods of division and amplification so that the translation is more acceptable to the readers in form and content. Finally, the translator further summarizes the inspiration, lessons and problems still to be solved in the translation process, which is expected to provide reference for future translation practice.
