Symphony and Lied are the two supports of Mahler's music creation. If we regard "The First Symphony" as the springhead of the former, the latter's must be "Lieder eines Fahrender Gesellen". This article makes this vocal cycle the subject of research, explores it's emotional natural character of contradistinction and begins from this composition's status in Mahler's vocal field. It looks into the special diversification of the theme that how the composer put this kind of emotional contradistinction into this cycle. Then from many sorts of ranks, such as entire or partial; external or internal, this article makes possibly detailed analysis to a serial of problems of this contradistinction: the proof of it's existence, the cause of it's produce, the way of it's express and so on. The "art songs" can not make sense without the process of " re-creation". Only take use of the proper performance, it can realize it's value. Therefore the article beyond theoretic research and continue to study the vocal expression of this contradistinction from the method called "song's explanation". Associated with the ground of the Lied's composition, this article also trys to find a more fitting way of this kind of songs' singing and education, especially refer to the deep ones as Mahler's. And it hopes to encourage more knowledge of this composer's mind of creation, the function of his transition in the late Romantic in 20th century. At the same time, when we want to deeply learn the intellectual situation of this group of German musicians at the end of the century, it offers a peculiar angle of watching.
