The philosopher is constructing his own philosophy of system by annotating classics through an important characteristic in the developing process of ancient Chinese philosophy. Kuo Hsiang's commentary on Chuang Tzu is a representative of these works. As we call it annotation, it naturally contains the two aspects of interpretation and reconstruction. By studying and exploiting the book, the author attempts to focus on the historical consistencies of the concepts and definitions. In order to understand the logic construction of Kuo Hsiang's philosophy, the differences between the historical consistencies of the concepts and definitions and the philosophical significance is unveiled.As opening words, the introduction part mainly discusses the general philosophical significance of Tao and its special appearance in the philosophy of Lao Tzu and Chuang Tzu. The Tao is the foundation of the Taoism philosophy, on which all theories of Taoism are based. In general, the early Taoists believe that Tao implies cosmic ultimate and cosmic principles. However, they are not the objective laws based on empirical experiences in western world. Rather, Tao is closely related to social life and it emphasizes the values and significance of Tao as the ultimate terminus of the formation and verification of the personality of humans. Compared with the Tao of Lao Tzu, Chuang Tzu's Tao demonstrates more subjective tinges(things). According to him, a subject's life spirits externalize Tao, interlinking as a media the individual life and the universe. Consequently, when speculating and expressing Tao, the Lao and Chuang school both rely on intuitive reflection to obtain Tao. On further examination, however, we find that the intuitive reflection advocated by Lao Tzu is of reason and Chuang Tzu aesthetic. Kuo Hsiang reconstructs Chuang's Philosophy by deconstructing his Tao.The paper has four chapters.
