This article mainly studies interpersonal refusal event in the rhetoric frame. Besides rhetoric theory, we also profit from the achievements of psychology, pragmatics and other correlative disciplines. It is our goal that makes use of the normal model and the effective strategies of the refusal so as to instruct people's human relations practice, build the harmonious relations, and provide certain references for other similar event type research.Formerly although many scholars have studied the field, they have regarded the refusal as one kind of speech act and essentially conducted the contrast research in the pragmatics scope by English materials. Those achievements are greatly valuable for us but with a little dispersible and disorder characteristics, and lacked systematic research of taking Chinese materials as the foundation. We give a definition of the refusal: it is to the will or the action of others directly or indirectly to deny . It is one kind of process, one kind of behavior that the subject does not accept "benefit" or "damage" from the object in the human communication. And it is the transmission of the related information .At the same time it is also one kind of mutual recognition during the subject provides to the object "not to accept" information source to change the attitude, the belief or the behavior of the object. The refusal is essentially one kind of interpersonal conflict, and the conflict is a dynamic unceasing process. The constructive procedure may reduce the conflict and enable the human relations of both sides to be improved or reinforced. The destructive procedure can possibly make the hostility to increase and initiate a more intense conflict. The concrete result of the conflict depends on both communicative sides. Therefore it has an important great value that researching the refusal event in rhetoric frame.
