The Book of Songs is the earliest general poetry anthology in China, Mao Heng's Mao Shi Gu Xun Zhuan, generally abbreviated Mao Zhuan, is Mao Heng's annotations on the Book of Songs. It is the earliest explanatory work to the Book of Songs which is cherished now, so it remains great importance in academic history and culture history. Zheng Xuan's Mao Shi Zhuan Jian, generally named Zheng Jian, is Zheng Xuan's commentaries on the Mao Shi. Zheng Jian, mainly abiding by Shi Xu and Mao Zhuan to commend the Book of Songs, became an agglomeration summarizing the classics learning based on officials script and the one based earlier and Chen Wei in Han Dynasty. It is the first milestone of the Han School of the Book of Songs, and it marked integrity and systematization of Mao Shi's explanatory system.Zheng Jian and Mao Zhuan have many identical points, while there are many differences between them, too. This dissertation conducts thoroughgoing and paintaking comparation between Mao Zhuan and Zheng Jian on the basis of traditional document texts. The author utilize philological methold to expound similarities and differences between them objectively from the angle of academic history.The first section of the dissertation is introduction. This section briefly outlines the author, naming and inheritance of Mao Zhuan and Zheng Jian to lead to the following text.The second section is a brief study history of Mao Zhuan and Zheng Jian. In this section, from macro-academic-historical angle, the historical period of studying the similarities and differences between Mao Zhuan and Zheng Jian is divided into three climaxes, i.e. the periods of Wei Jin to Tang Dynasties, two Song Dynasties, and Qian Jia in Qing Dynasty to Min Kuo. From researchers' academic tendency to Mao Zhuan and Zheng Jian, scholars in past ages have four different attitudes: developing Zheng and discarding Mao, depreciating Mao and Zheng, developing Mao and discarding Zheng, keep neutrality to seek truth.The third section is the comparation between Mao Zhuan's and Zheng Jian's comments on the Book of Songs.
