The death of Hai Zi,the poet in the end of 1980s,seems t0 herald an ending of The Age of Poems,which,however,brings him gradually into the focal point of research with his outstanding works over the period.This paper makes efforts,by adopting the method of Influence and Parallel studies in Comparative Literature,to reflect upon the poems and ideas of Hai Zi,in order to offer a rough answer to the long-halted question"The What of Poets"With the concept of"Return-Home".Introduction covers the originality of this paper's intention:the encounter with Hai Zi,the rich yet seemingly unbearable significance out of Hai Zi's poems,and the gratitude towards the mental inspiration received.Chapter One-The Age of Idealism.recalls the poetry world in 1980s preaching Freedom and Ideals:.Vague Poets of pre-Hai Zi period,3rd-Generation poets of Hai Zi's period featuring vast variety of activities and programs,and the reflection upon the poverty in the current poetry world.Chapter Two-Poems of Hai Zi,well displays the poetic works by Hai Zi in two parts:short affection poems and comparatively long epics,from which the author tries to explore the poet'S never-yielding pursuit as well as his confusion.Chapter Three-The Alien Elements out of Hai Zi's Poems.Trying to look for the mentality in common among all great poets.Especially Holderlin's Return-Home concept,which has been fully explored to explain the fight of Philosophy against Poems.Conclusion-In Memory of the Poet:Immortal Hai Zi,takes a new perspective to learn of the great poet and his times.All reminisces,spectaculation,and research of him will add value with time passing by.
