The Causes Of The Diversity Of Artistic Styles Of The Medieval Byzantine Miniature Painting To Explore

This paper elaborates the concepts and categories of Byzantium Miniature, analyzes the expression styles of the diversity of Byzantium Miniature in Middle Ages, and its influences on the other regions and painting varieties, taking the causes of the formation of the diversity of Byzantium Miniature. The paper intends to express the following point: Byzantium Miniature and other arts in the Middle Ages are not stiff arts styles as what people think them to be, but various styles exist meanwhile and show different characteristics in different times and regions.This paper holds that the basic reason of the diversity of Byzantium Miniature lies in the contradiction of three conflicts- the conflicts among classic culture, Christianity culture, political ruler and religious ruler, the oriental culture thought and western culture, and These conflicts are formed based on special region environments and historical conditions.
