This essay makes a complete investigation on the cause of Marxism being propagated widely in China during the period of the May 4th movement, combining with contemporary research fruits in other subjects and based on the respect for the former agreement. First, the range of 'propagation' is defined in this essay, and then illustrating the cause of Marxism being propagated from seven aspects: 1.The attempt, limitation and illusion on capitalistic theory.Analyzing the reason why the multi-party politics in agreement in early days of Republic of China veers to Marxism. 2. The dual characters of the Cultural Movement. How the contradictory character of the Cultural Movement leads to Marxism is explored. 3. The example of Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. It describes how Li Dazhao accepted the Russian October Revolution & USSR and how to promote the propagation of Marxism. 4. The early propagation on ideological trend of socialism. The relationship between ideological trend of socialism and propagation on Marxism is analysed. 5. The proletarianization of China and its mission of salvation. The fact that the complete bankrupt of latter-day China became an important objective basis of accepting Marxism is analysed, however, the traditional conception of salvation is helpful for the scholars to accept the philosophy on revolution. 6. The applicability of Marxism in China. The significance of conception of science & history and Marxian influence on colonial countries' struggle against aggression are emphasized. 7. The May 4th movement's pushing effect. It illustrates that how the May 4th movement provides the psychological basis for getting young scholars in China involved in Marxism. The method of combining the history and logic is applied in this essay. In regard to observation aspect on sociology, history and politics, this essay pays more attention to deeper interpretation, makes tracks for the shift of people's minds during the change of era, and explores how Marxism becomes the mainstream of the Cultural Movement.
