The Central Plain Culture (CPC) is a very important part to Chinese culture. Today, culture research is receiving more focuses than before, thus, it's both a duty and a responsibility for people living here who have more advantages than others to have CPC better researched. In China, lots of works on CPC had been published after 1949, and works on narrow "CPC" sense (including literature, history, philosophy, folk custom and special topics of culture) have shown their differences in the past years. According to some bibliography works, the author had 302 works on CPC published between 1949 and 2005 to be researched and content-collected in the second part of this thesis, while information of the other 330 works she could not find to read is collected in the third part.Works on CPC have different forms and contents, which decide their different styles and purports. These works have four forms: single volume books, series, reference books and informal publications. The different publishing situations of these works show the different focuses of research on CPC in the past years. There are more collection works than research works, and more laudatory works than criticizing works. The different contents decide the different styles and standards: there are both serious academic works with great importance and simple works that easy to be understood. Usually, the former works are out of academic pursuit or scholars' personal interest, while the latter works are out of knowledge spread or local economic requirement. These works also show us some weakness in research on the central plain culture. In the contents, these works more or less show us "Selfish Departmentalism". They always emphasize on self features, advantages, purports and contributions, but to pay enough attention to the connections, respects, co-prosperity and culture-co-foundation with other places. In the styles, many works on CPC pursuing great material gain are subjective and superficial, which are far away from real academic research. These works are not beneficial to the scientific research on CPC, what is more, their flourish will slower the progression of research on CPC.
