Wang Shuo, with the idiosyncrasy of banter and rebellion, has been an extremely influential man of the time in Chinese literary world in the 1980' s and 1990' s. He is widely known and his works are imbued with controversy which contains different judgments. Wang Shuo is not only the writer as a best seller, but achieves success in the operation of the commercial movie. He roams in the transition of Chinese social environment and the unique discernment and penetrability transmitted by his works infuses new vigor into the development of Chinese contemporary literature under the multi-cultural pattern.This paper has a relatively comprehensive review and neatening in terms of the cultural notion on Wang Shuo' s works based on four aspects such as the concept on the mass culture, intellectual, postmodern culture and "memory of the Cultural Revolution" . People can sense his sincerity and experience the most profound notion he wants to convey us through the genuine feelings when reading his novels. Wang Shuo makes the people understand the consciousness of citizen and appreciate his own concept on the mass culture. In addition, people suspect intellectuals of the true qualities all along, whereas the real intellectuals who can challenge the ascendance are with high esteem. Wang Shuo bravely points at the "hypocrisy" and "unbearable quality" of Chinese so-called intellectuals and his indifference carrying the ironic and bantering manner has a quite deep impression on the people. With the change of Chinese political and economic environment, Wang Shuo abundant in techniques, literary and artistic talent expresses the egregious notion and emotion and chooses postmodern locution and teasing means to clarify the cynical and rebellious postmodern style after abandoning solemnity.
