China And South Korea The Symbolist Poet Jinfa Huang Xiyu Comparison

This thesis is to make an in-deep comparative study on the poetry of Chinese symbolistic poet Li Jinfa and Korean Symbolistic poet Huang Xiyu in the early of 20th century.The content of this thesis focuses on the following two main aspects: first, Symbolism spread into both China and Korean in the early of 20^th century; second, comparative research on the poetry of Li Jinfa and Huang Xiyu.Chapter one is the introduction. It investigates Li and Huang's understanding and acceptance of the symbolism within the large historical background. The author points out the similarities in their process of receiving the symbolism, they are both Chinese and Korean symbolism appear an unelectable admixture, and were also deeply influenced by the symbolism filtered Japan.Chapter two is the main part of this thesis. Taking the Li Jinfa and Huang Xiyu's specific sybmbolistic poetry as a starting points in consideration, this thesis will mainly concentrate on the following aspects. First, the author takes the dead theme and the dispirited theme as the starting point, compares the similarities and the differences displayed in the poetry creation of Li Jinfa and Huang Xiyu's. Secondly, the author investigates the nature scenery and religious image when comparing the imagery of Li and Huang's poetry. Li and Huang have chosen obviously different emotion orientation as facing the nature, they have the completely different expression as using the religuis image, that is Li's poetry appears the somnolent religious color, however, Huang's reveals the thought on the unit of heaven and human beings. Thirdly, On the course of the language and literature, both the two men Li and Huang not only has displayed the features in the period of the social change, but also showed some features of multi-thoughts and multi-schools affected and influenced each other.In the developing process of the world history of literature, the ancient Eastern civilization and the western world have not been connecting each other, and this kind of situation has been continuing until modern society. Along with the pattern change of modern social politics and economics, the thought of western literature and arts has been spreading, which had the indelible influence to the Eastern literature. This thesis is also a kind of the individual reflection influenced by the thought.
