Western Zhou Dynasty On The System Of The Spring And Autumn Period Of The Regency

Regent is a political symptom that exists together with authoritarianism. From antediluvian period of Yin Shang to the last feudal dynasty Qing, regent happened several times. However, the Spring and Autumn Period is a phase which experienced the most revolutions in China at all times. In this period, great changes happened to different aspects of the political institutions of the society and the regent system is not an exception. In the long term, the focus of academic circle on regent in the Western Zhou Dynasty and the Spring and Autumn Period are mostly specific research on historical fact concerning a few typical issues of regent. For example, whether Zhou Gong acted as regent, identity of regent in the age of Republicity, character of Yin Gong occupy the regent and so forth. However, the researches which take regent during the Western Zhou Dynasty and the Spring and Autumn Period are not sufficient enough. So far, there is no scholar who has specific discussion on regent system of the Western Zhou Dynasty and the Spring and Autumn Period. The aim of this paper is to try to treat regent system as object of studies and by employing plenty of symptoms of regent, to summarize the characteristics and seek the reason for the formation of regent system of the Western Zhou Dynasty and the Spring and Autumn Period. Also, the analysis of the significance of regent system as well as its trend of evolvement is also included in this paper.The structure of this paper is as follows: There are five chapters in this paper.The first chapter makes a simple sum-up of the result of the previous research on regent system of the Western Zhou Dynasty and the Spring and Autumn Period, based on which the direction of the research in this paper is brought forward.In chapter Two, the social background and the meaning of the concept of "Regent" in the Western Zhou Dynasty and the Spring and Autumn Period are generalized and analyzed.Chapter three categorized the typical regent in the Western Zhou Dynasty and the Spring and Autumn Period.
