Western Feminist Literary Theory Translation And Application In China (1995.9-2005.12),

It was 4-15, September, 1995 that the fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing, Capital of China. The World Conference on Women held in China had proved: On one hand, world women were casting their concerned sights on the women in the country of largest population in the world; on the other hand, the strength of Chinese women made the world pay more attention to them, and Chinese women were going to the world, answering voluntarily to the voices of women liberation in the whole world. During the decade, from September of 1995 to the end of 2005, there was greater improvement on either quantity or quality than before in the field of translation and introduction and use of the Western Feminist Literary Theories. When the Western Feminist Literary Theories went to the Feminist Theories of Postmodernism, the female scholars of China translated and introduced and used the Feminist Theories of Postmodernism to criticize the native literature. Meanwhile, they kept a kind of scrupulous distance to it. The male scholars of China, during the process of translation and introduction and use of Western Feminist Literary Theories to criticize the native literature, adjusted themselves constantly to keep the relations with female scholars, and affirmed the identity in the research of Feminism in China.After the " World Conference on Women " in Beijing, there was large change in the translation of the English word "feminism" : When the Feminist Theories had already entered the era of Sexual Theories of the Post-structuralism which emphasized the" sex", therefore, the "feminism" has replaced the "feminism" gradually. The female scholars translated and introduced and used the Western Feminist Literary Theories, which mainly displayed in the follow aspects: Translated tirelessly the Feminist Theories of Post-modernism; criticize the Chinese literature by Deconstruction; construct the Feminist Poetics of China and Gender Poetics; build the Women Study in Chinese Universities and Colleges, and so on.The male scholars had played important roles when they translated and introduced and used the Western Feminist Literary Theories.
