This paper takes Li Shan's WenXuanZhu as its core, and discusses the Buddhist knowledge world of scholars who isn't Buddhist. When commenting on WenXuan,Li Shan provided detailed citations and explanations for Buddhist phrases in several articles. We can use these annotations to understand Li Shan's level of Buddhist knowledge, discover the characteristics of his Buddhist knowledge world, and open up the study of the macro-propositions of the Buddhist knowledge world in the Middle Ages. The introduction presents the origin of the selected topic, summarizing the previous research achievements of the predecessors,we carefully sorted out the different editions of the WenXuan of Kui Zhangge edition,Mingzhou edition,You Mao edition,Hu Kejia edition, and Jianzhou edition. In order to be as close as possible to the original appearance of Li Shan's note in the WenXuan, this article uses the Kuizhang edition as a basis, and the Senate made a detailed proofreading work with Mingzhou edition,YouMao edition,Hu kejia edition, and Jianzhou edition. The first chapter makes an in-depth study of the text of the WenXuanZhu's Buddhist annotation.Based on the mutual proof of the editions of the WenXuan, the conditions of the addition and deletion of the notes on Buddhist terms in the WenXuan of each edition were explored.Afterwards compared all the Buddhist annotation in the WenXuan with the original ones, referring to the problem of the issue of the quotation of the citations and the errors of the words and phrases in Li Shan's note, and collating and summarizing the quotation list of the cited texts by Li Shan's annotation. The second chapter examines Li Shan's Buddhist knowledge world from the three aspects of Li Shan's Buddhist teaching knowledge,Buddhist literature knowledge, and the sources of Buddhist knowledge through methods such as text comparison, semantic reduction, and literature traceability.According to the degree of conformity of the cited interpretation,we can find that Li Shan has mastered a certain amount of Buddhist teaching knowledge, but not enough depth.According to the accuracy of the source of citations,we can find that Li Shan is not familiar with the history of Buddhism and the catalogue literature. Finally, based on the success and failure of the existing Buddhist language annotations in the WenXuanZhu,this paper speculates on several possible sources of Li Shan's Buddhist knowledge.Based on the previous research, the third chapter makes a tentative examination of the Buddhist knowledge world of the scholars who don't believe in Buddhist. This article compares the Buddhist texts written by scholars such as Li Shan's WenXuanzhu and Wuchen's WenXuanzhu,Wei Shu Shi Lao Zhi(???????)and Sui Shu Jing Ji Zhi(???????).It summarizes the two universal characteristics of the scholar's Buddhist knowledge world, and analyzes the reasons for its formation. In this regard, this article starts from the case of Li Shan's Buddhist knowledge world and makes a simple depiction of the Buddhist world of knowledge in the Middle Ages.
