"The Scholars" Scholars Study Describing Words

In this paper, the describe words of scholars in "The Scholars"(�'林外史) are research subjects, we classify and explore them from language and vocabulary or cultural integration perspective. In order to explore the describe words of scholars reflect the ideas of social and cultural awareness.We define the describe words of scholars as that the words which reflect the personality of scholars, most people think that the words which have scholars’ characteristics. Depending on the significance of the theme, we divide the describe words of scholars into three categories:polite language, evaluation’s words of figures, the language of action. We collect and sort out the total of the scholars’ describe words are1,347(excluding repeated words). Among them, Polite language is616; evaluation’s words of figures is201; Action language is608, including repeated in polite language of polite behavior language is78.The Polite language is divided into eight subcategories:greeting, farewell, thanks, apologize, euphemisms, requesting. modest honorific and polite behavior terminology, subdivide the various subcategories statistics and analysis related causes. Evaluation s words of figures is divided into the kind of looks and temperament, character. personality,intelligence and poetry. We use the the analysis’method of context to research the words about "gentleman","filial piety","rigid" and others. Moreover, truly learned scholar, lofty performance in terms of personality and character. Finally, from the evaluation of scholars’poetry, we find that the ruling class strongly defend the rulers of the System,which uses the stereotyped article to select the officials (八股取士). Through the analysis of Action language, drawing that the scholars "laugh" is universal Ironically. the main target of abuse of others are slaves and women. it reflects the scholars discrimination against women, the most reasons of abuse are related to money.Personality of scholars is snobbish and actively worship the authority; The phenomenon of the scholars fraud is seriously, especially for the expedition that they try their best to do anything; Because they are too keen on the expedition. they don’t believe in themselves and exams, they think the expedition is concerned with the gods, it replies their superstitious thinking seriously.
