Qing China, Siam Concept

The relation between China and Thailand which was called Siam in ancient China experienced a long history.In Qing Dynasty,the relation between the two countries were closer than before .Both the official commerce and the folk trades presented a flourishing look.The Qing government also gave special treatments to Siam for it was regarded the most friendly country to China except for Korea.My thesis focuses on people's cognition about Siam during Qing Dynasty.It assesses the Sino-Siam relation from the ideology angle according to comparing different ideas about Siam of each social stratum in Qing Dynasty .The formation of the people's ideas about Siam during Qing Dynasty have the specific background,not only have the influence of the tradition Huayi Concept,but also the reations between Siam and Qing Dynasty. At the same time, it based in the ideas about Siam before this period,the influence of the tradition relations between Siam and Chinese is inevitable.The thesis divides the Chinese into four kinds to elaboration, concluding the highest decision-makers, the intellectuals of Qing Dynasty, overseas Chinese living in Siam and common people. Carries on a comparison of the different social class as well as the different dynasty,pointed out,that the people's cognitions about Siam in Qing Dynasty are a miniature of that in our ancient feudal society.
