A Report On The E-C Translation Of The History Of Siam,1688

With the increasing communication and development between China and foreign countries,more and more readers have been in favor of historical biography,which requires a high quality of the translation of historical biography.Not only authenticity of the history but also literariness of the works should be paid much attention to.Aiming at learning more about history in 1688,the translator chooses chapter three of the book The History of Siam,1688 as the source text material for the English-Chinese translation practice to conclude the language features of the historical biography text as well as some practical translation skills.According to the Functional Equivalence Theory,it requires the translator to pursue a closest natural equivalence between the source and target text in the translation process,which might achieve the transmission of the cultural connotation and correspond to the translation of the historical biography text.Based on the Functional Equivalence Theory,the translation practice report contains four aspects such as lexical equivalence,syntactic equivalence,discourse equivalence as well as stylistic equivalence to study the language features and English-Chinese translation skills of historical biography,which emphasizes the significant leading role of the theory on translation of the historical biography text.In addition,the report on the E-C translation of The History of Siam,1688 has much objective opinions on the characteristics of Phetracha,and the colonial expansion as well as diplomatic strategies in the 17 th century has been reproduced through the translation and proofreading of the source text,reference to some parallel texts as well as the collection of historical texts.Figure 0;Table 1;Reference 31...
