Taoist Theory Of Four

Taoist tenet thoughts are the core of Taoism and the fundamental spirit to drives Taoism to lead the development of the times. How to give a new explanation to the Taoist tenet thoughts on the basis of inheriting traditions so as to conceive a new tenet thinking system that accords with the development of modern society is the important mission and task that our modern Chinese Taoists are facing.The ancient Taoism and its culture still have the active value in the process of modern culture development and can play a very important role, but are also meeting with problems of how to inherit tradition, advance with the time, and suit the reality and society. In order to respond to and settle well the requirements and problems put forward by the modern times and society to Taoism, we should give a historical study of the development of the Taoist tenet thoughts and make modern explanation. This paper is designed to make a review of the historical development of Taoist teachings and give the modern explanations to problems in order to reestablish the tenet thoughts system on the harmony between God and human beings advocated by Taoism, and communication between human beings and God. So, this paper has mainly discussed the following four theories: 1. "Tao and God monism", which mainly tackles the issues of respecting Tao and God in the Taoist tenet; 2."Tao and material compliance theory", which mainly discussesthe relations between reality doctrine and individuals, with the key focusing on the relations between Tao and human beings; 3."Life and Tao syncretism", which mainly tackles and discusses about the value of life advocated by Taoism, with the key focusing on the tenet thoughts of cherishing and respecting life of Taoism; and 4."Theory of Taoism and commonness harmony", which mainly tackles the relations of coming to this world, aiding this world people and seeking the exceeding of immortals.This paper attempts to establish the morals and the immortals as the key thinking of Taoist teachings through the discussion of "Tao and God monism"; the aim is to demonstrate the universalism of Taoism through the discussion of "Tao and material compliance theory", to show that Taoism has the characteristics of respecting life that differs from other religions through the discussion of "life and Tao syncretism"; and to mainly find a cut-in point that Taoism merges into the modern life through discussion on the "theory of Taoism and commonness harmony". The above four aspects although are independent to each other, they are also related. Among them, "Tao and God monism" is the fundamentally of core for making a point, "Tao and material compliance theory" and "life and Tao syncretism" are the basis and girder for making a point, the "theory of Taoism and commonness harmony" is the starting point and staying point of Taoism for aidingthe world people and educating people. The purpose of this paper is totackle out the key content------the basic spirit of Taoist tenet thoughtsthrough these four theories, and to give new explanations through discussion in order to explore the path and method of modern structure of Taoist tenet thoughts so that the Taoist culture and its spirit can be well inherited and promoted in modern society.
