Oriental Element is the element that transports the information of the oriental culture in the artistic creation. The use of the oriental element is quite obvious, especially in those from the western background. In modern western theatre, the oriental element is used more and more frequently and widely. As a Chinese-American play writer, David Henry Hwang is the deputy of the applying of the oriental element. This thesis proceeds from the analyzing of the oriental element, including the use of Peking opera and the symbolic images, and it's in order to study how the oriental element effect his theatre plays, so that they may exist in the mainstream western theatre.
