From Traditional To Contemporary - Of Chinese People And Culture

As one important part of Chinese multi-culture structure, civic culture had has comprehensively exhibited the state of citizen's psychic and physical life to us. So only wholly have we seen the Chinese civic culture, we can rightly recognize the panorama of China culture and make Chinese culture harmoniously develop.By relying on the culture study theory and using contrast method, this article tries to compare the traditional civic culture with contemporary civic culture respectively referred to the social background, content, characteristic etc. In the comparison, the article describes the history of Chinese civic culture situation and development as well as its present situation. The author also outlines some omni-directional scenes of the Chinese citizen's culture. The full text divides into four parts, which has comprehensively dissertated the Chinese civic culture.Chapter one summarizes the civic culture. The author defines the concept of "civic culture" through analysis of "culture" and "citizen". Namely, "civic culture" means that culture created by the residential community and can be used to reflect the residential values and the characteristics of behaviors, certainly, this concept connotation is consistently developing along with the time development. However, the unceasingly developing residential culture also has some parts that keep unchangeable, those are the basic contents of the material and the spiritual sides which the residential culture contains as well as the temporal, commercial characteristics of residential culture.Chapter two pays more attention to elaborate the traditional Chinese resident culture, namely, the Chinese resident culture history. From Tang Dynasty to Song, Yuan.Ming and Qing Dynasty and to the end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, the civic culture has undergone a developing period of preparatory stage, the development prosperity time. And again it has arrived the end. The article elaborated the traditional Chinese residential culture with details in spiritual aspects of the moral view, values, esthetic interest performance, as well as in material aspects with respect to colorful contents such as basic necessities of life and literary products e.g. drama vaudeville, townspeople's literature.Chapter three is to comprehensively elaborate Chinese civic culture at present time. Through analyzing the social background and the residential community structure, the author elaborates the spiritual changes and the development of the modern civic culture, which are different with the traditional civic culture. For example, the citizens have enhanced their individual consciousness and public sense. The community has formed a variety of unique culture. So many rising cultural products such as TV, film, Internet and mobile phone has been come out. At the same time, the contemporary China residential culture took up some new characteristics such as the immigrant, the expense, the medium , which is a multicultural complex. All these new characteristics have made the developing situation clear and easy.Chapter four emphatically tries find out the reasons for many matters which existed in the contemporary China residential culture development, just like the absence of ego, nous, aesthetics, right market and so on. In order to seek a solution to these problems and guide the civic culture to healthily develop, the author comprehensively analyses and proposes some humble opinions.
