Published from August 1922 to 1931 and sponsored by Red House, the World Publishing House, Red Magazine which was originally named New Voice founded by ShiJiqun,1921, renamed as Red Rose after its 100 issues. The magazine was intact copy of the New Voice. These related magazines had played an important status and had a large influence in the Mandarin Ducks and Butterflies School from 1921 to 1931.Their Supreme circulation was over 50 thousand copies, far exceeding their rival Saturday, the leader of the magazine's 20 thousand copies record. As a popular babbittry literature periodical, although it received some attention since 1980s, Red Magazine so far has not gain its due weight in the Literary History. This paper, combining the Shanghai's cultural environment during the 1920s, studies the RED's cultural connotation and its construction of civil culture world.Covered a wide range of interesting and secular subjects, including comic essays, satirical fictions,and detective frictions, the Red Magazine kept pace with the Readers'tastes, giving them so much useful information. In a down to earth humor language,and with the unique view, the Red Magazine show us a civil culture world in Shanghai during the 1920s...
