Lexical Cohesion Of The Chinese Scientific Discourse Analysis

This paper analyzes the Chinese scientific discourse on the basis of the Hoey's theory of patterns of lexis in text and discusses how the lexical cohesion plays a decisive role in the relation among the sentences and the discourse construction of the Chinese scientific discourse. It takes the article Qianxueseng 's The Science of Thinking for example to analyze the important role of the lexical cohesion and the web of the lexical cohesion in the Chinese scientific discourse and states the function of the cohesion leaping over the sentences of the different lexical cohesion devices. The lexical cohesion devices can help form the Chinese scientific discourse. It is shown the semantic construction of the whole discourse through analysis of the function of the cohesion leaping over the sentences of the different lexical cohesion devices and also was gotten the abstract of the whole discourse by using the central sentences and the marginal sentences. Meanwhile, it is known the role of the marginal sentences in the Chinese scientific discourse according to the ellipsis of the marginal sentences. This paper put forward that dividing the sentences into the paragraphs can be gotten using the topic-opening sentences and the topic-ending sentences of the Chinese scientific discourse.
