Peking University, Tsinghua University, Public Art Education Development And Enlightenment

This paper generally introduces the ideas of aesthetic education of Mr. Cai Yuanpei and Mr. Mei Yiqi and its historical significance. It also looks back upon the history of public art education in Tsinghua University and Peking University since their foundation to the 30's in the 20th century, to the period of National Southwest University, the period of the War of Liberation, to the early times after the foundation of China until the contemporary era. It generalizes the characteristics of public art education in these two universities and hopes that it may merit the development of public art education in universities and institutions of regular higher education in China.
