"zuo Zhuan" Narrative Studies

ZuoZhuan is not only the first chronicle in China ,but also an excellent work of literature. It is considered as an example of the early Chinese narrative. ZuoZhuan has been attracting readers by its special charm and its narration since it was produced .Its narrative models and features lay a foundation for the develop of narrative literature.ZuoZhuan is a great literature which is good at narration in Early Qin, narrative theories finely provide the new visual angle, methods and the thread for appreciation of the work and research of qualities for literature.Theoretically based on Chineses and western modem narratology and previous studies ,the thesis provides a preliminary study on the narrative basic characters and ructions of ZuoZhuan from three aspects: the narrator, the view angle, the narrative time. The complication of the text and the authorof ZuoZhuan cause the vagueness of narrator's identity,but the main narrators are narrators on LU's history, the narrator only is a kind of sound not is a ture man . Two-narrator positions are used: the objective narrator pattern and the subjective narrator pattern .Two pattens are combined together.That is to say, in order to ensure the objectivity of the historical narration, narrator does his best to hide himself behind the stories, but in order to moralize them, the narrator always showes himself as "Junzi"(gentleman) or"zhongni" (confucius) when making comments in the historical narration . In the text, the almighty view angle is basically used.The narrator across-the-board showed the intricate relationship of cause and effect,the relationship among the people and live or die ,the rise and fall with the almighty view angle .The limited view angle is partly used,historical figures become the narrator. It makes the historical narration belived and what's more it makes characters distinct. Focalization perspective and non-focalization perspective are used to show grand historical scenes and typical characters. In the narrative time,ZuoZhuan is annalistic, the most prominent feature is the clear indication and the flexible manipulation of the time. The former fills the narration of ZuoZhuan with the sense of reality and that of history and the latter not only makes the the narration of ZuoZhuan vivid ,but also to a certian extent ensures the structure cohesion and integrity of historical narration.The last part of the thesis summarizes in brief the influence on the narrative literature for later times especially on ancient Chinese novel.The narrative research of ZuoZhuan namely is the research on the headstream of narrative literature. We know the narration of ZuoZhuan ,the relationship between ZuoZhuan and the narrative literature for later times ,and what's more the Knowledge of cohesion and integrity of the literary history increases.In a word, theoretically based on previous studies, I try my best to objectively show the narrative features of ZuoZhuan .
