This dissertation concentrates on Emperor Qianlong how to display his royalty and self-satisfy by landscape paintings which themes are retirement.Court painting is very blooming in Qing Dynasty, especially the narrative paintings, such as "The Kangxi Southern Inspection Tour" and The Qianlong Southern Inspection Tour". The paintings describes an image of cultural giant and sage emperor by recording the history images. Except this kind of narrative paintings, if the traditional landscape paintings have not been influenced by the most powerful patron. It is a very important question in art history of Qianlong Time. During his southern and western tour, Emperor Qianlong has not only orderer his artists to recording the history but also done some landscape paintings.This article regards "The Eight Scenes of Ge Hong Mountain" as example to discuss the relation between retirement landscape and displaying royalty, I hope it should provide a new idea to research paintings of Qing Dynasty.
