The origination of epigraph in Qing Dynasty led to a revolution of calligraphy esthetics and techniques. The calligraphers absolved the successful results of epigraphy research and put new concepts into various calligraphies, which largely enriched the components of calligraphy's structure and widened the room for calligraphy development. This article studies the transformation of the running style of Chinese calligraphy by analyzing the outstanding situation of Tiexue for thousand years, explained the reasons of Tiexue's decline and the rise of epigraph. The author also analyzes the esthetics of epigraphy and the new elements of the running style of Chinese calligraphy, by which to find out the revelation of epigraphy running style of Chinese calligraphy on present calligraphy invention works. With respect to the running style of Chinese calligraphy that was already at the height of power and splendor of development, the origination of epigraph audaciously explored and developed new elements, giving the later generations more space for exploring and development, which was not only a mentality liberation at that time, but also edified the unborn calligraphers to keep fresh ideology and spirit of exploring during art works invention.
