The The Jiangzhou Percussion Since The Late 1980s Heritage Changes The Status Of Investigation And Research

Jiangzhou Drum, as one type of folk gong music, spreads widely in XingjiangCounty of Shanxi Province, which mainly takes the following three as representatives,namely, "the Hua Durm", "the Chuanxiang Durm" and "the Vehicle Drum". This specialart is endowed with unique cultural functions and artistic characteristics by theagricultural culture and customs of Jiangzhou. Significantly, in the past, JiangzhouDrum developed steadily and stably due to the slow pace of its local development andpeople's lives. Nevertheless, since the end of 1980s, along with fast social development,people's life style and the spiritual world have changed greatly. As a result, the folkmusic that takes certain social background as basis loses its living condition and isdeclining day by day. Accordingly, Jiangzhou Drum, as a type of folk music, also hasencountered various influences, and has experienced certain changes, that is, declinationapprears together with certain adaptation and development. This article attempts toexplore the rules in the development of Jiangzhou Drum under the social changes,which is carried out from three aspects, that is, social, material and formal constructionsof Jiangzhou Drum. Besides, reasons contributing to such rules are examined in detail,whose significance lies in that it may provide useful suggestions to protecting anddeveloping Jiangzhou Drum.It is found out that the social, material and formal constructions of Jiangzhou Drumare closely related to each other, intertwined to be a whole during the process ofdevelopment, thus changes in any one will lead to those in the other two. Importantly,the social development is the most essential factor causing changes in Jiangzhou Drum,hence the fact that such changes are inevitable. In addition, governmental policies,various cultural organizations, the local citizens' desire to make profits as well as theinnate law in artistic development all contribute to the changes in Jiangzhou Drum.Therefore, to protect the folk music must make certain adaptation and adjustment tolocal music considering the social background, the people's aesthetic standard and thevalue change to cause it to adapt to the time and society's need, develop unceasingly andprosper day by day.
