Chinese Contemporary Theater Drama Aesthetic Interpretation

In the 1980s, with the change of people's opinion and aesthetic interests, a new creative and pursuing tide had been sweeping across almost all literary realm, drama is no exception. The new drama, with creative spirit, taking drama's predicament and its quest for drama's concepts and various attempts as its starting point, rebels against traditional theatre all-directionally. It rebuilds the activity room, turns stage art into theatre art and establishes a new-brand relationship between audience and performers, making itself a dramatic change. After 20 years experiences, with their bold exploration and constant attempts of drama reformers, China's little theatre drama has obtained complete interest quality, unique aesthetic thinking and particular aspect of seeing life and displaying life. Whatever its aesthetic character, creative method or its art function is different from that in big theatres. Its style diverse, the contents of little theatre drama is extensive, not limited to one stereotype, constantly adapt to people's interest arts and aesthetic demand. It becomes a pleasing scenery in China's drama stage.Although little drama flourishes and receives more and more attention as culture phenomenon, there is a lot of bewilderment and misunderstanding in drama concepts and its research. If we can not treat it correctly, this kind of art might face its downfall, therefore, it is very demanding to study the theory of little theatre drama.This paper, tracing its origin and development, adopting several perspectives, analysizes its theme from four aspects. First, the origin and rise of little theatre drama; secondly, the exchange of drama's style and the definition of little theatre drama; thirdly, the art creation and aesthetic character of little theatre drama; fourthly, rational thought of the future development of little theatre drama. First part introduces in detail the historical origin of little theatre drama, the relationship of little theatre drama and experimental theatre and the reason of the rise of China's little theatre drama. Little theatre drama rises from Europe and has several hundred years history, it has the inborn quality of rebellion, exploration and experiment. In the 1980s, when the traditional theatre was not accepted by the people, a group of drama reformers with creative spirit boldly broke through the tradition and created a new kind of drama, since then, little theatre drama have flourished in China.The second part lays emphasis on the exchange of drama style and the definition of little theatre drama. The serious drama crisis makes it possible for the creation of new drama. Little theatre drama as vanguard of drama's renovation tide breaks the old drama's paradigm, and breaks through the realistic mode of traditional drama.The third part is the main part of the paper. This part mainly discusses the art creation and aesthetic character of little theatre drama. On the basis of borrowing and adopting western drama theory and China's traditional drama elements, little theatre drama, using various methods makes exploration and experiment in its creation, direction and performance. It breaks though the traditional stage character, gives the new meaning of stage language, rebuild stage form, thus making the essential change in the relationship between the audience and performers.The fourth part gives the rational thought about the present situation and future development of the little theatre drama and objectively analysizes the deep crisis in its flourish. The change of cultural background and its shortcomings in drama's exploration are the obstacles in its development, through which we can find the way of walking out of trouble.In the conclusion the author points out little theatre drama, with obvious character of experiment and exploration, has its defects and is not very mature. People should support it with tolerant and active attitude, which is also the basic attitude of this study. The diversity of arts and the free spirit of seeking arts are the important elements in the development of little theatre drama. The author hopes it growing in art stage and becoming the symbol of freedom and beautiful life.
