Manrice Ravel(1875-1937),a pianist, composer,is considered to one of the brilliant orchestrates. The typical characteristics and value of art reflected from his works has been widely accepted and highly approved in the field of music. It is known that Manrice Ravel, in parallel with Claude Debussy (1862-1918), as one of the primer composers applying Impressionism of the early 20 century.The works of Ravel covers a variety of types of music, such as, solo pieces, music pieces for orchestra, and operas. It has been represented in his works that Manrice Ravel's impressionism harmony and techniques and characteristics of writing music. Five piano pieces of his 18 and 30 years old, are analyzed and studied in this essay which are Menuet antique, Pavane pour une infante defunte, Jeux d'eau, Sonatine, and Miroirs.Study Ravel's early living conditions in order to find out how his thought of impressionism come into being (Chapter I ). Analyze the way of his thinking of early piano pieces and musical characteristics so as to figure out the development in style and arrangement in the whole in his works (Chapter II ). To Dissect harmony techniques in details and development and reforms of impressionism, much research has been done in the study of the the chord material, the chords progression, the tonality, (Chapter III ).His early piano works, which has the characteristics of impressionism, reflect that he is deeply influenced by the thought of impressionism, and he applies masses of techniques of impressionism harmony. He was so imaginative and bold in the chord and tonality that his music and representation are different from typical impressionism music and perform magnificent acoustics and contribute to Lavel's style impressionism harmony.
