The Research On The Names Of Jurh

This paper is consisted of the introduction, three main chapters, conclusion, reference and the list of geographical names of Jurh town, Sonid Right Banner.Using the historical evolution, classification of the geographical names and the reason of geographical names change in Jurh-town, Sonid Right Banner, Xilingol-league, this paper studies geographical names in Jurh-town. And it divided the historical changes in Jurh-town into five period, such as West-six-sumu (1642-1949), Gool-sumu (1949-1958), Bayanjurh-commune (1958-1984), Bayanjurh-sumu (1984-2003) and’ Jurh-town current status.It classified the geographical names in Jurh-town in three major categories, such as names from human names, names from historical events and names from nature. Among them, it divided the geographical names from human into five categories, such as nobility related names, civilians related names, soldier related names, prairie hero related names and human life related names. Also divided the geographical names from historical events into three categories, such as war related names, temple related names and current event related names. And divided the geographical names from nature into three categories, such as mountain, hill related names; river, spring, lake related names; natural resources, plant, animal related names.It referred to the reason of the geographical names change in Jurh-town as social and historical evolution, industrialization and urbanization, cultural change. And introduced the customs related to geographical names, besides discussing the historical status of Jurh-town, Sonid Right Banner and the classification of geographical names and its changes. In conclusion, it summed up the change in the geographical names and its changing reasons and cleared that the geographical names are named after the surrounding landscape of the area. In this paper, taking’ Jurh-town in Sonid Right Banner as an example, discussed the geographical names change in history and made the research of the origin, changes, and changing rules of the geographical names based on field survey.
