The theory addressed in the essay is based on a thorough analysis of the Piano Suite Op.25 composed by Arnold Schoenberg. By studying innovation and heritage of sophisticated composing techniques, creative acoustics, materials, forms, style and musical notation, the essay reveals a unique artistic attribute embedded in the work, which combines traditional and modern elements. It helps to prove a theory that inno- vation can not be completely separated from tradition but based on it. New music is a combination of old elements with some flavor of innovation. The author leveraged her rich experience of playing this piece of music to discuss the playing techniques for the first 3 movements. The playing techniques involved terms of speed in the opening of article, the rhythem counter point problem and the transformation exercise in rhythem and beat, the exposition for subject, the performance disposal about playing marks,the inconspicuous recapitulation part and the use of pedal etc. The author also makes an analyse focus on the special effection and performance as traditional factor extened in the Gavotte and Musette. Which provides a vehicle for readers to taste the mys- tery of Schoenberg's piano works.
