The development of science and Darwin's evolution theory destroyed the religionary foundation. Feudal force and church defend the rigescent morals sternly. People of swelldom became more luxurious and dissipated. Agains;t the ugly reality, some sensitive and radical artists attempt to establish the Utopia on spirit and initiate the thought of aestheticism. Based on the foundation of Gautier,Baedelaire and Walter, aestheticism development has gone to Wilde times.As the representation of aestheticism, the works and life complexity of Wilde make one puzzle. People discover more and more modernity ingredient from Wilde, after he died one hundred years. Review all the life of Wilde, his theoretical and creative practice are joined with specific historical background and cultural environment, also with his family, experience and sense. From the viewpoint of cultural study, this paper stands in the historical cultural language boundary of the Victorian Era, refers the aesthetics idea and creative practice of Wilde, analyzes the relation between "art for art" and "art for life" appearing in his works. Through analyzing the uniqueness of Wilde in each aspects such as personality, thought, theory and the creation, this paper hopes overall understanding Wilde, objective evaluates his position in world literature history and considers his modern meaning neglected by people.
