The invention of tiles is the token of the improvement of human dwelling. since the adoption of tiles in housing, our ancestors left the primitive simple huts and moved into the bright pottery tiles-covered house, it is a description of the enrichment spiritual world of human being rather than a great leap in the history of architecture. This dissertation cut in through the lately unearthed tiles , studied the relative literatures, practiced the spot investigation, compared the patterns on tiles of different periods, revealed the evolvement of the aesthetic consciousness of that time, excavated the deep connotation of Chinese civilization.This dissertation is consisted of 4chapters. Chapter 1 is the introduction, it explained the background and its significance, the research methods and outline ; Chapter 2 described the origin, evolvement and aesthetic connotation of tiles, outlined the research development and found out the evolvement rules through comparative analysis; Chapter3 probed into the designs and its connotations of the tiles, explored the aesthetic connotation of the tile patterns during different period of time. Chapter 4 is the conclusion, it revealed the rules of the evolvement of aesthetic consciousness ,from deity worship to the rational world life worship, then the Unified spiritual world , highlighted the influences of the social consciousness and the real life on the evolvement of the designs on the tiles .The ancient times has gone with wind, through the patterned tiles—theproduction of ancient civilization, we can seek the approaches of the ancient Chinese aesthetic consciousness evolvement, reveal the abundance spiritual life of the ancient people from earlier Qin to Qin and Han Dynasty.
