The Birmingham School successfully made researches on popular culture based on both theory of Western Marxism and the tradition of liberalism culture in Britain. Their study gives a cultural analysis to the laborer class subculture of youth and various kinds of popular culture subject. At the same time they emphasizes the mass's creationary researchers' attention upon the practical area.The first part begain with the introduction of the culture study of Birmingham School, which defies some important concepts, and produced their studying methods and so on. In this way, the author presents the mass study of Birmingham School in two ways, first one is their concepts' background in social and history, the other, is the origin of their study. By skimming over the domain of Frankfurt School, the author made a brief comparison on two schools which both important in popular culture research area. There are an obviously change from "criticism" to "comprehension". In the conclusion, confronted with the present research situation of mainland, the author raised some problems about popular culture and practical developments which to be solved now or in the future.
